A JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF THE ALPS

The first hotel of Val Thorens

Opened in 1973, it was the first establishment to welcome mountain enthusiasts, at a time when Val Thorens was still an emerging ski resort. Thanks to a bold vision and a warm, family-run atmosphere, the hotel quickly became a local landmark.

We have watched Val Thorens grow, evolve, and become the highest ski resort in Europe, while staying true to our identity and our connection to nature. The hotel has modernized over the years, but its spirit remains unchanged — a true haven for mountain lovers, and a place where relaxation and adventure meet.

A family adventure

Val Thorens was born on April 8, 1973. Paul and Marie-Bernard Garcin moved into Val Chavière in the autumn of 1975, accompanied by their three children: Isabelle, Florence, and Patrick. The early years in Val Thorens were challenging — the climate was harsh, snowfall was immense, and temperatures dropped to -30°C in January. But a strong sense of solidarity and incredible energy quickly developed among the residents of this remote little village.

In 1999, Patrick Garcin and his wife Françoise took over the reins of the hotel. Just like their parents before them, they can count on the invaluable help of their three children: Loïc, Caroline, and Nicolas.
